Small but MITEY

Meetings & Incentive Travelmagazine, in partnership with InterContinental Hotels Group, launched their first annual award programme, dubbed the MITEY Awards, for the meetings and business events industry in Canada.  Awards were given out for the Best Meeting in Canada; in large, medium, small, and overall categories.

The Best Meeting in Canada recognizes and rewards organizations that invest in meetings as an integral part of doing business. Each Best Meeting in Canada winner had clearly defined goals and objectives for their meeting and was able to measure and calculate a positive return-on-investment for their event. 

Brampton, Ontario’s, Shnier, Gesco Limited Partnership’s Shnier Summit, won the Best Medium Meeting in Canada, and will be bringing their annual summit to Halifax in June 2011.

Conferences and events were nominated last fall by attendees and vetted through a national jury of meeting industry experts. The 19 finalists were chosen and asked to submit a business case for their event. The jury then chose the three winners from the finalist submissions.

Nominations for next year’s Best Meeting in Canada will open in September, 2010.
