Halifax by Air? Easier than you think!
The Halifax Gateway Council (HGC) has a vision:
"To be the preferred eastern Gateway for North America for the economic and social benefit of Canada"
Attracting international association meetings and conferences to any city is often perceived to be difficult and expensive as offices and delegates for the organizations are located across the globe. Attracting meeting planners from this lucrative market is often met with reservations involving expensive or non-existent, long distance air travel.
But US Airways and Delta Air Lines are in sync with HGC's vision and are doing their part in making it easier to travel between Halifax and the United States these days.
US Airways are starting a new year round service from Philadelphia on June 1st, 2010. It is going to run three times daily, which is great.
Delta Air Lines have also just introduced year round services to both NY Laguardia and Detroit. So we now have non-stop services from Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Newark, NY JFK, NY Laguardia, Philadelphia and Washington Dulles.
And, not to brag, but the Halifax Stanfield International Airport (HSIA) has been ranked the World's Best Airport for overall passenger satisfaction in its class (under five million passengers) for the seventh straight year. HSIA was also named by passengers as the second-best airport in North America, regardless of size, behind Austin, Texas, according to survey results produced by the Airports Council International.
With Halifax air access continuing to grow, new connections being created, and an award-winning airport, there is no reason why US M&C planners should have any reservations about making reservations in Halifax.
