National Meetings Industry Day 2012
It’s National Meetings Industry Day (NMID), an educational initiative of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and an important day for those in the meeting and convention industry. This year’s MPI Atlantic Chapter theme is “Get Engaged”, a theme that could double as a mantra for planning successful meetings.
The celebration kicks off at the World Trade & Convention Centre today with a fun and interactive luncheon, including attendees Kevin Hinton, MPI International Board Chair-Elect, and dynamic keynote speaker Roger Rickard. The 2012 NMID Influence Award, in recognition of an individual who has made a difference to the meetings industry, will be presented after the keynote, along with a reception and networking session.
NMID has three objectives:
- To define and shape the meetings and events profession in the future
- To help raise the profile of the industry and the benefits it generates for communities and institutions across Canada
- To discuss the economic impact of meetings in their region with people who are outside the industry
MPI works to achieve these objectives throughout the year with a variety of educational and networking activities focusing on the significance of the Canadian meetings industry and the value of meetings to the broader business community. MPI events are the perfect opportunity to engage and be engaged.
