Halifax honors more Ambassadors

Congratulations to Professor Raymond Klein of Dalhousie University and Kathryn Burlton of the Halifax Region School Board on becoming Destination Halifax’s latest Ambassador Award honorees.  Professor Raymond Klein hosted approximately 300 members of the Canadian Society for Brain Behavior and Cognitive Science for 4 days at Dalhousie University. Turn out for the conference was more than expected.  This speaks both to Professor Klein’s drive and skill at hosting a conference as well as Halifax’s well known reputation as a premier conference destination and great hospitality. Halifax, Prepare to be PowWow-ed

Later this month Port Royal, NS will re-enact the baptism of Grand Chief Membertou, a Saqumaw (Chief) of the Mi’kmaq tribe in the early 1600’s.  This open-air mass on June 24th will mark the 400th anniversary of his family being baptized, thus making them among the first Aboriginals in North America to “adopt” Christianity.  Then it’s off to Halifax for a time of celebration and sharing!   If you come to the Halifax Common between June 25th and 28th, you will experience one of Canada’s largest PowWows (Mawio’mi).
