Bells Chime for Titanic in Halifax, Nova Scotia

Church bells chimed in Halifax this morning at 9:30 a.m. in remembrance of April 30, 1912, the day the CS Mackay-Bennett brought the first bodies recovered from Titanic to shore in Halifax. The scene 100 years ago must have been that of heartache, grief and disbelief as the ship docked in Halifax with 190 bodies. The ship recovered a total of 306 bodies, and 116 souls were buried at sea. Thousands of people came together in Halifax this past weekend to experience the unique events being hosted in the city to honour and commemorate the 100th anniversary of Titanic.
