The Haunted Hype

Posted by: Halifax Hype Team
Well Halifax, Halloween is almost upon us and spooky celebrations abound. There’s a Haunted House at the Halifax Armoury this weekend! Just like old castles had their dungeons and tortured spirits, the Armoury has it's secrets hidden deep within its underworld. Our advice? Beware of the zombies – you just can’t trust those creatures. Ever. This event is running both Friday and Saturday evening from 6-9 p.m. – admission is a mere $5 and all proceeds go to the Metro United Way! Why not visit the Armoury Haunted House Friday night and hop over to the Halifax Citadel national Historic Site the following... Stone Street Cafe Surprises and Satisfies

Posted by: Kristen Pickett
I recently took my aunt to the Delta Barrington's Stone Street Cafe. My aunt is my mother's sister, and I refer to her as my Hali-mom. Fortunately, she's the quintessential "fun aunt", a mix of protective momma and big sis! I had a gift certificate for the Stone Street Cafe, so I decided to take my faux-momma out for dinns. This spot is very tucked away, on the back end of the hotel, accessable by both the hotel itself and the Grandville Mall. You know what they say about little hidden restaurants; they're often the best!I had a feeling that... Read More

Incredible Eats at The Wooden Monkey

Posted by: Kristen Pickett
I've been to The Wooden Monkey a few times, but it's just been for lunch or an early supper - I've never been for dinner.  I recently met some friends for a late dinner where I was wowed by my meal.  Since we were going out later, I didn't want to eat too big of a meal. If I only knew what I was getting into!  Since 'eating light' was the name of the game, I decided to go with the Nova Scotian seafood chowder.  Of course, that plan was foiled when my friend suggested that we split some nachos as... Steak Frites at Brooklyn Warehouse

Posted by: Kristen Pickett
So, I know that it's evident that one of my favorite restos is Brooklyn Warehouse, and this meal further adds to my love affair. I recently went to dinner with a friend of longtime family friend of mine who has been away from Hali for about 4 years; long enough to miss the opening and rise to fame of Brooklyn Warehouse as one of Halifax's best restaurants (in my opinion).  On this visit, I knew what I wanted to order from the moment I sat down. It didn't take long to convince my friend that she wanted the same. We... Read More

Hankerin' for Henry House

Posted by: Kristen Pickett
Up until a couple of weeks ago, I had never had a Reuben sandwich.  Several people were shocked about this fact, but I didn't really see it as a big deal.  I'm actually not all that much of a sandwich gal.  I like the occasional Bahn Mi or a little hot turkey action over the holidays, but most of the time, I could take it or leave it. And then...I went to the Henry House.  I've been a few times before and on this particular occasion, for some random reason, my psyche was jonesin' for some the smoked meat.  As far as...
